For some many years I have struggled with the question of how we are to make the church relevant. Having been raised in an evangelical denomination and then becoming a part of the Anglican communion and then leaving that after they became to liberal and going back to a more middle of the road evangelical group I have struggled. You can probably tell that by the run on sentence I just wrote.

Anyway, I think I may have gotten some insight this morning as I was driving around.

I drive by a huge cluster of homeless folks everyday. They hang out in a zone that is just outside the city limits but there is still tons of traffice where they can pan handle all day.

On one corner there is a circle K and on the other corner there are lots of really cheap eating places.

About 3 months ago I remember giving one of the men $5. I felt so good about it. I felt rich. I felt like I made his day. I remember the smug feeling of satisfaction as I drove off.

I am keenly interested in either a book or movie being developed that would convey the truth that we as humans beings have built into us all, the ultimate technology which is an eternal spirit that will survive the death of our earthly vessels.
